Virtual Fashion Show

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 by Carrie Welch

Target has done an amazing thing….

They have presented the first virtual fashion show!

What a great way to make the focus become the clothes and accessories rather than the model in them.  There were holograms with no faces to illustrate the look and feel of each design.

I hope that this is just the begining of a whole new way to present new fashions.

Giving Through Fashion

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007 by Carrie Welch

As you know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Well, thanks to Ralph Lauren and NET-A-PORTER.COM, you can help support breast cancer awareness and look good doing it.  Ralph Lauren has designed a Fashion Targets Breast Cancer bullseye to be placed on the classic polo shirt.  (The pony will still be located on the shirt.)  The cost of the shirt is $75 and one-hundred percent of net profit from the sale of these shirts benefits Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.

Ralph Lauren provided this photo of shirts featuring the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer logo the company created to raise money for the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s breast-cancer initiative. (AP Photo/Ralph Lauren)

This is one item of clothing you shouldn’t feel guilty about buying.

Don’t Despair

Sunday, August 19th, 2007 by Carrie Welch

School uniforms…….yuck!

A lot of you out there may being thinking that exact statement, but don’t despair.  Even if your school has uniforms you can still add your own personal style to them.  How?

Accessories…….Accessories…….Accessories!!!!

You may be thinking…. blue skirt and a white top…..boring.  How about some knee high socks that  have every color under the sun on them?  Those socks look awesome with  baby doll shoes.  A set of pink jewelry would add a sweet touch too.  Picture a long necklace or two, multiple braclets and pair of sparkling earings.

Not into a bunch of jewelry?  A big green belt and a big yellow and green flower in your hair is a softer way of personalizing any outfit.  Even just a brightly colored purse can add that touch of you.

So, when you head out to the stores for that plain uniform……remember shopping for accessories to make that outfit uniquely yours will be a lot of fun.

Sizzilin’ Shades

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007 by Carrie Welch

A great pair of shades is an essential part of anyone’s wardrobe.  Especially in the Valley!  The sun blesses us with it’s rays for about 90 percent of the year.

                                       sunglasses.jpg

They can be a great tool when working a hand in poker.  Looking good and playing smart.

Joan Collins looks fabulous with her classy shades.  No squinting going on here.  Just grace and ease as she smiles for the cameras.

Like making a bold fashion statement? Check out these bright trendy shades.  They even match that amazing purse!

What a simple accessory can do for a look is just awesome.  It’s great to be able to complete your outfit with a pair of sizzilin’ shades.

There are all kinds of shades out there and so many ways to use them.  I like to have a few different styles on hand.  It’s fun to be bold one day and classic chic the next.  What is your favorite style?  Do you stick to one style or have multiple pairs?

Whatever style you choose    ———-   Have lots of fun!

Myopic Mode

Thursday, May 24th, 2007 by Carrie Welch

Believe it or not, needing to wear glasses can be a cool addition to your personal style.

You never expect it.

That fated day when you suddenly realize you can’t make out the name of that new clothing store just ahead. Or maybe it was when you tried to read the washing instructions on an awesome top and you found yourself squinting.

Fear not my near and farsighted friends —– Look at the bright side of things, you have just added an accessory to your wardrobe!

There are plenty of fashionable frames to choose from. Some of the more daring frames that have animal print on them can be fun. (<eyecessorize> check these out)

Maybe you’d like some stunning black plastic frames to complement your look. (<eyeglasses> these too)

That’s just the color choice. You also get to choose from shapes like round, square, cat eye or funky boxy.

(<eyeart> and these)

Having fun yet?

I have even seen where people pierce the outside of the nose so that the lenses are screwed into the piercing on either side of the nose. That way all there is are the lenses. (<wow> check this out) I’m not that brave, but some of you may like the idea.

There is some pretty cool information on how many people wear glasses too.

According to the Vision Council of America 64% of adult population need vision correction. 46.9% are men and 53.1% are women. 64% of those sight challenged Americans chose to correct their vision with glasses. 19% wear contacts some of the time. That means that even if you do chose to wear contacts, you will most likely not wear them all of the time.

Don’t let that make you blue —–

Turn that frown upside down and make it a bonus to your style!

Here’s one more before you go —-

(<more> the more the merrier)

Very Cool Exhibit!

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007 by Carrie Welch

There is going to be a very cool fashion exhibit in Brownsville!
I like to look at fashions from the past and modify them to look modern.  If you like to do the same, or if you just like to see what people wore back in the day,  you’ll probably enjoy this exhibit.

A Walk Back In Time is the theme with the fashions spanning from the 20’s to the 60’s.
Where? The Brownsville Heritage Museum. 1325 East Washington

When? From June 7 - July 30

How much? $4 for adults, $2 for children

 Sounds Very Cool to me!

Mark your calendar!
