Futuristic Fall 09′

September 1st, 2009, 3:03 pm by Carrie Welch

As the fashion industry looks to the fall season, designers are looking to the stars. With the Stormtrooper helmet look appearance on the runway the statement was evidently towards a futuristic fall.

Fashion The Future

Susan Cernek, senior fashion editor of Glamour.com said “This isn’t the naive kind of 60’s futuristic stuff you might think of, this is more robotic. It’s tougher. It’s an android crossed with a biker.”

Fashion & Charity

June 19th, 2008, 3:36 pm by Carrie Welch

It is an awesome thing when fashion can be used to raise money for a good cause.  Cartier hosted thier annual charity bracelet collection and LOVE Day celebration in Beverly Hills.  Many hollywood celebs were invited to join in the giving.   They were able to donate to the charity of there choice,  which means there will be multiple charities that benefit from this event!

Here’s a couple of pictures from instyle.com of celebs that were at the event—-

Fashionable Tasers

February 6th, 2008, 4:24 pm by Carrie Welch

I recently read that there are designer Taser stun guns on the market.  They will be available in metallic pink, electric blue, titanium silver, black pearl and red hot.

Now I’m all for protecting yourself, but we all need to be a bit concerned about this.  Stun guns are dangerous weapons.  People may think that they are harmless and they just stun people and are non lethal.  Well, they can and have killed people.  A stun gun puts out 50,000 volt charge which can stop a human heart.

If you decide to purchase a fashion stun gun to protect yourself, make sure to know how and when to use it.

Be safe and—-

Picture this….

You’re getting ready for work (or school), and thinking ”I look good”… You’ve got your fashionable coat on….it goes great with these slacks…..good hair day….

Well, make sure you look down at your shoes before you head out the door!

A co-worker was nice enough to let me capture her fashion don’t.

Don’t let this fashion don’t become a reality for you.

Change It Up

December 3rd, 2007, 12:16 pm by Carrie Welch

When it comes to fashion, a lot of people tend to stick to the same “theme” of clothing.  Your style may be considered preppy, country, punk, etc.  Well, don’t let those stereotypes keep you from expanding your wardrobe repertoire.  If you are out shopping and you see an awesome skirt that looks a little punky, but you normally dress “preppy” don’t let that stop you.  I say get that punky skirt and have fun!  Fashion is like music in this respect.  You can like all kinds of music so why not all kinds of clothes?

Now that Thanksgiving has passed it’s time to shop, shop and shop some more!

So many gifts to get and so little time.

Well, take a look at this very cute knit top….

Home Run

November 15th, 2007, 8:54 pm by Carrie Welch

A young new designer named Anastasia Lomonova has blessed us with a wonderfully done dress.

Femme Fatale

It is very simple and very extravegant at the same time.  There are two essential elements to this dress, that would not work well without eachother.

The pleats throughout the entire dress would be boxy without the soft silk bows at the shoulders and the complimentary belt.  The bows would be floppy and bulky with out the pleats.  Together they make a simple, elegant and absolutely beautiful dress.

The versitility of this dress is an added bonus.  It is light and flowing enough for a brunch with some friends or add some  accessories, then the detail and silky material lend to an evening dress as well.

Anastasia Lomonova moved to Canada from Russia at the age of 17.  She studied fashion design at Toronto’s University Ryerson.  She released her first collection in April 2007.  This is only her second collection and she is definitely one to watch.

If you like her style and can’t make it to Montreal, go to paper-doll.com for a few of her available pieces.

Runway

November 14th, 2007, 6:02 pm by Carrie Welch

Season Four of Project Runway has arrived!

If you haven’t seen this show….you need to check it out!  The outfits that the designers make are amazing.

Sometimes they are a little outrageous, but the talent is undeniable.

Click on the link below for a sneak peak….

There are many talented designers out there and even more competition.  This show is a great opportunity for each one of them.  With so much undiscoverd talent, just imagine how many people didn’t even make the show.  Each designer has their own style and deserves to be seen.

I look forward to seeing more of these kinds of opportunities.

Good luck designers!

(and would-be designers!)

Don’t Let The Bed Bugs Bite

November 12th, 2007, 9:27 pm by Carrie Welch

Target has some very comfy and fun looking “pj’s” for fall.

It can be easy to overlook sleepwear when talking about fashion, but there are some quite fashionable “pj’s” in stores today.

Super cute cow jumping over the moon pajamas.

Warm and cuddly panda print pajamas.

The trendy cherry print pajamas are also available.

Sleepwear is a chance to express your silly side.  So the next time you are out there shopping for some pajama’s, remember they are fashion too.

Happy Shopping!
